Wydanie wznowione z okazji setnej rocznicy urodzin obu artystów!

W latach 1955–1961 Miles Davis prowadził wyjątkowy mały skład, który na zawsze
zmienił oblicze jazzu. W centrum zespołu znajdował się przede wszystkim saksofonista
tenorowy John Coltrane, ale w jego skład wchodzili również wybitni muzycy, tacy jak
saksofonista altowy Cannonball Adderley, pianiści Red Garland, Bill Evans i Wynton
Kelly, basista Paul Chambers oraz perkusiści Philly Joe Jones i Jimmy Cobb.

Pierwotnie przygotowany przez Michaela Cuscunę i Boba Beldena w 2000 roku zestaw
„The Complete Miles Davis Featuring John Coltrane” zawiera 58 utworów, w tym
nagrania z tak legendarnych albumów Milesa Davisa jak „Round About Midnight”,
„Milestones”, „Jazz at the Plaza”, „Someday My Prince Will Come” oraz kultowego „Kind
of Blue”.

W zestawie znalazły się również nagrania Davisa z Coltrane’em, które wcześniej ukazały
się na wydawnictwach „Miles and Monk at Newport”, „Birth Of The Blue”, „Basic Miles”
oraz „Circle in the Round”.

Kolekcję uzupełnia 18 dodatkowych utworów, które przed 2000 rokiem nie były
publikowane i nie były dostępne w żadnym innym wydaniu.

Oryginalny box set zdobył dwie nagrody Grammy - za najlepszy box set lub pakiet edycji
limitowanej oraz za najlepsze noty do wydawnictwa. Początkowo ukazał się na winylu
wyłącznie w niezwykle limitowanej edycji nakładem Mosaic Records.

Teraz, po raz pierwszy, kolekcja jest szeroko dostępna w formacie 9 LP. Nagrania zostały
wycięte bezpośrednio z oryginalnych taśm analogowych przez Ryana Smitha w Sterling
Sound.

Wydanie zawiera również 60-stronicową książkę, będącą adaptacją oryginalnej
publikacji. Znajdują się w niej wyjątkowe, rzadkie fotografie oraz wszystkie eseje
autorstwa oryginalnego producenta George’a Avakiana i perkusisty Kind of Blue,
Jimmy’ego Cobba. Całość uzupełniają nagrodzone Grammy, pełne cennych informacji
noty autorstwa cenionego krytyka Boba Blumenthala, chronologia wydarzeń oraz
dodatkowe teksty Michaela Cuscuny i Boba Beldena, a także oryginalne noty do albumu
Kind of Blue, napisane przez pianistę Billa Evansa.
