Led by pianist Gene Harris, the trio’s sound had evolved by 1970 with a new line-up featuring bassist Henry Franklin and drummer Carl Burnett. The blues and gospel roots were still there but the rhythm had a funkier edge as heard on the rousing live recording Live at the ‘It Club’.
